The Lorraine Project had been locked away by Teck Resources for more than a decade, until acquired by NorthWest (Sun Metals) in 2020. The Lorraine alkalic porphyry copper system is precious metal enriched and similar to other successful alkalic systems including Galore Creek, New Afton, and Mount Milligan in British Columbia, and Cadia-Ridgeway and Northparkes in Australia.
We believe that this system is open for expansion and through renewed systematic exploration this property has significant potential for new discoveries.
As is common in silica undersaturated alkalic porphyry systems, the mineralization at Lorraine is characterized by:
- High grades
- Strong gold +/- silver enrichment
- Occurs in multiple zones
